Ok, so you’ve read all the FAQs, you’ve heard all the lectures. But how do you know when it really is time for you to check your hearing?

The answer is that you should have your hearing tested on a routine basis, much like a physical or an eye exam. But we here at Healthy Hearing know how hard it can be to take the plunge and schedule a first-time hearing test, so we’ve got something to make starting the process a little easier!

Good news: we now offer an online hearing test to help you over that initial speedbump in your psyche. A simple questionnaire will tell you if a visit to the audiologist is needed, and the best part is that it can be done in the privacy of your own home. No one needs to know you’re taking the online hearing test besides you and your desktop.

Our online hearing check makes it easy to take
the first step to better hearing health!

You should consider taking the online hearing check if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Asking people to regularly repeat what they said.
  • Failing to hear people behind you.
  • Struggling to understand someone when you’re not looking directly at their face.
  • Turning up the radio or TV much louder than is comfortable for others.
  • Trouble hearing in groups or noisy environments.
  • Struggling to understand people on the phone.
  • Having difficulty hearing women or children, or men with higher-pitched voices.
  • Struggling to hear in an auditorium, like at a speech or in a movie theater.

The hearing check is simple. All it requires is for you to think about the questions honestly, and answer as truthfully as possible. Remember that lying on the questionnaire harms no one but you; there is no grade for landing a better score. The purpose of the check is to get an accurate gauge on your hearing ability and help you determine if further evaluation is needed.

So tonight, when you have a few minutes of free time, sit down and start the check. It’s easy and it’s at your discretion!

Once you’ve completed the exam, read the results and follow the next steps. If it turns out your hearing is fine, wonderful! You can start regular hearing check-ups without fear of bad news, plus your audiologist will be able to establish a baseline and to identify any potential issues before they become a major problem.

If, however, your hearing is less than stellar, now you can be prepared for what the audiologist will have to say. But the chances are you might have suspected a hearing loss, right? Isn’t it time you did something about it? Sometimes the issue is readily resolved. Wouldn’t you enjoy having your hearing improved?

The check will help you in finding an audiologist by pulling up the registered hearing clinics in your area, along with contact information and patient reviews. This way, you can take some of the guesswork out of finding a new doctor who would be a good fit for you, and you can walk in to the doctor’s office with the assurance that others with similar conditions have been able to get the help they needed there.

So what are you waiting for? Take the hearing check now!
